Bandwidth Scalability

IPVPN service offers a wide range of bandwidths with granularity to cater to various customer needs. The following table lists the bandwidth range and granularity offered for the various topologies.

Network Resiliency

All IPVPN services are built on the SPTel highly resilient, CE2.0 compatible, SDN MPLS platform. Within the platform, any disruption to the service will automatically be re-routed to ensure minimal disruption to the customer services.

With SPTel direct fibre, IPVPN service offers the Auto-backup Port option that provides last mile protection between customers' sites to SPTel network nodes. There will be two diverse fibre uplinks from the EDD connecting to two diverse SPTel network nodes. This provides protection on the Provider Edge (PE) network by auto-failover to the standby port on a different PE router.

Classes of Service (CoS)

CoS is an on-demand VAS that offers 4 distinct classes of service on IPVPN service to meet customers' stringent application prioritization requirements. CoS allows customers to prioritize their network traffic according to their business and operational needs. The default CoS with an IPVPN subscription is the General Data CoS and customer has the option to upgrade their IPVPN CoS to the higher CoS tiers.  The following CoS are available for upgrading selection:

  • Mission Critical
  • Video
  • Real-Time / Voice

CoS VAS is charged on a monthly recurring basis and is based on CoS subscribed bandwidth. There is no minimum contractual period and is on flexible tenure.

Flexi Classes of Service (Flexi CoS)

Flexi CoS is an on-demand VAS that offers customers the freedom and flexibility to self-administer and modify the CoS profile on their IPVPN service as they wish anytime, through the Customer Portal. There are 6 CoS available for selection with this service:

  • General Business
  • General Data
  • Transactional Data
  • Mission Critical
  • Video
  • Real-Time Voice

Flexi CoS VAS is charged on a monthly recurring basis and is based on IPVPN service subscribed bandwidth. There is no minimum contractual period and is on flexible tenure.

Multi-services Ethernet Demarcation Device

On one single Ethernet Demarcation Device (EDD), additional SPTel connectivity services such as Metro Ethernet and Internet can be seamless and swiftly activated through SPTel Customer Portal.

Bandwidth on Demand

IPVPN bandwidths can be scaled up on-demand up to 10 times of the subscribed bandwidth.  BoD can be scheduled for a future period, or for an on-the-spot upgrade. BoD is charged based on bandwidth and duration of the request, and the following component options are presented for selection in the Customer Portal during subscription:

1. Bandwidth

A dropdown list of bandwidth speeds of up to 10x the customer subscribed bandwidth or maximum of the physical port bandwidth, whichever is lower.

2. Service Start Date and Time

The option of (i) calendar to select the request start date from "today" onwards up to 3 months in advance (ii) immediate upgrade; and start time in 24-hour format

3. Duration

Option of (i) number of days; or (ii) number of hours up to 24 hours. There will not be any prorated charge.

Based on the selection of above component, an innovative Dynamic Pricing engine will generate an one-time charge quotation for customer to accept before submitting the BoD order.  Using the principle of demand versus supply amongst other situational conditions, Dynamic Pricing will fairly price BoD requests to ensure network resources are available to customers while encouraging customers to modify their network usage behaviour to achieve better cost efficiency. For example, a BoD request for off-peak hours activation may derive a lower price than a request for peak hours, assuming the network is heavily loaded during peak hours. Future changes in the network loading trend will be taken into account by the Dynamic Pricing engine, hence its “dynamic” objective.

Burstable Bandwidth

Burstable Bandwidth allows traffic surges beyond the customer's subscribed bandwidth plan at any time of the day.  Customers are charged for the extra bandwidth surges beyond the subscribed bandwidth for the past 1-month period.

Site / Service Availability SLA

IPVPN provides the promise of service quality through SLA commitment on Service/Site Availability commitment. Through these SLA commitments, users are offered quality and availability assurance required for their business and operational needs.

Proactive Notifications and Monitoring 24x7x365

SPTel IOC operates round-the-clock and is powered by a cutting edge Next-Generation network monitoring platform which the IPVPN elements are integrated with, to offer customers swift and accurate notifications and reports on network incidents & escalations for all SPTel services.

Private Connectivity to Public Clouds

Cloud Connect service provides a connection within the customer's secured MPLS network to selected Cloud service providers through pre-established network-to-network interfaces at designated peering locations. Customers will enjoy a private connection to Cloud service provider’s network at designated data centres without the need of investing in co-location space at the data centre or incurring additional cross-connect costs.
